Materials Handling Middle East 2013 to put emphasis on Logistics Service Providers with Emirates Post as key partner

The UAE logistics industry is set on a high growth path, spurred by the huge amount of infrastructural and commercial projects either already underway or in the pipeline. According to estimates by leading analysts Frost & Sullivan, the UAE logistics industry is expected to be worth AED 36.95 billion (US$ 10.06 billion) by 2015.

The UAE has built on its locational advantages and invested strategically in building up world class logistical infrastructure, including top of the line airports, seaports, cargo handling terminals as well as surface transport networks of the highest quality. Today Dubai is the unquestioned trade and logistics hub serving a region that houses a population of over 2 billion people.

“The ongoing growth of the logistics industry in the region will stoke demand for materials handling solutions which can more efficiently enhance the process of loading and storing of goods. This is at a time when the economies of the Middle East continue to develop and evolve,” said Ahmed Pauwels, CEO of Epoc Messe Frankfurt, organiser of Materials Handling Middle East 2013 – the only dedicated trade show serving the materials handling and supply chain industry in the region.

Materials Handling Middle East is a showcase of all materials and services for the supply chain process from the pick up and loading of merchandise to its unloading and storing in a warehouse. The exhibition is expected to attract visitors from logistics companies, commercial end-users, government organisations, wholesalers & retailers, ports & airlines and manufacturers, all of whom stand to benefit from the products, services and solutions on display.

With increasing demand being felt for logistics services, Materials Handling Middle East 2013 will put added emphasis on logistics service providers. Emirates Post have joined hands with the organiser as key partner for this segment which will also feature other leading logistics providers such as Airlink and DB Schenker.

Frost & Sullivan's estimate indicates that the freight forwarding segment brought in the bulk of the AED 37 bn revenue at around 63.1%, supported by heavy demand from customers in the oil and gas, engineering, and food & beverage sectors.

Transportation was the second highest contributor at 18.6%, with road transportation holding a dominant share in the segment. The final two contributors to the logistics revenue according to Frost & Sullivan were warehousing at 14.2% and value-added logistics services (VALS), such as packaging and labelling, at 4.1%.

Materials Handling Middle East 2013 will showcase a broad spectrum of the latest developments and trends shaping the industry. The exhibition attracts a large representation of international manufacturers, suppliers and retailers looking to expand their footprint into the Middle East.

This year's seventh edition of the exhibition will be held at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre from September 10th to 12th and will focus on four major product areas: Materials Handling & Lifting Equipment; Logistics & Postal Services Providers; Value added Logistics Services and Warehousing Equipment.
