Largest Ever Materials Handling Middle East 2013 Proves Industry Position 3,370* High Quality Trade Specific Visitors; A 15% Increase On Previous Edition

Epoc Messe Frankfurt, organiser of Materials Handling Middle East has reported a 15% increase in the number of trade specific visitors to its 2013 edition. The recently concluded exhibition also enjoyed a significant increase in space occupied, making it the largest edition of the bi-annual trade fair since its launch in 2001.

3,370* visitors from 59 countries attended Materials Handling Middle East 2013 to view the 150 or more global brands that were on display. The top five visiting countries outside the UAE were Qatar, Iran, India, Oman and Saudi Arabia. As the only platform of its kind servicing the materials handling, supply chain and warehousing sectors in the region, the trade exhibition has become an important get-together for the region's growing industry.

“The positive feedback from both exhibitors and visitors reflect the upbeat sentiment in the market for this sector. The region, with its trading history and locational advantages, provides exciting opportunities as well as some of its own challenges for the industry,” said Ahmed Pauwels, Chief Executive Officer for Epoc Messe Frankfurt. “The exhibition is a great platform for exploring these opportunities and generating new business leads and this is exactly what exhibitors reported from their participation.

The conference running alongside the exhibition also provides the ideal backdrop for looking at and debating the pertinent challenges the industry faces in the region,” he added.

Mathias Hower, General Manager at SSI Schaefer, who was participating as part of the German Pavilion was also positive about the industry's future in the region. He stated: “For SSI Schaefer Materials Handling Middle East 2013 was a big success. The quality of visitors was an extremely high level and signals a clear trend for the rise in the region.”

Other exhibitors also reported positively about the quality of trade visitors at the fair noting that they were very specific to their requirements and included key decision makers. Srijith Pillai, Marketing & Sales for CarlStahl, commented: “Most of the visitors either work in engineering or purchasing so most are decision makers. This is the type of exhibition we are really looking to participate in,” and Krishna Raj from Godrej, stated: “The visitors were of high quality and fitted the profile which we were trying to reach.” Similarly Serafino Monaldi, Business Development Director, Protective Packaging, Middle East, North Africa, Turkey & Caucasian for Sealed Air, commented: “In most of the cases the visitors are operatives, end users – the people who will be making the decision to buy the product and who will be using it. Here you've a very specific category of people.”

For many companies, Materials Handling Middle East is a platform for facilitating business with markets which are traditionally more difficult to penetrate. Monaldi, continued: “There are companies which are not easy to reach, but we've found them here.” Furthermore, Mayur Porecha, Managing Director for Constromech, said: “There have been real key visitors here – customers that we have been trying to reach and we've not been able to get through to previously. Now we've met them here and started real discussions.” Meanwhile Guru Ravindran, Assistant General Manager for Technical Parts Establishment, stated: “We have had reputed customers from so many different sectors – oil & gas and power & water for example.”

Participants found that the exhibition created the right environment for lead generation and business enquiries, with many reporting a positive number of significant enquiries. Thomas B. Hanks, General Manager, FACE Middle East, stated: “It is a good show in terms of exposure to clients and getting positive enquiries,” while Roy Redman representing CombiLift, stated: “It has been a successful show for us, without a doubt. The enquiries we had were of really high quality,” and Damien Murray, General Manager at Aisle-Master, stated: “It has been a very good show with good quality leads and enquiries.”

Materials Handling Middle East is a bi-annual trade exhibition servicing the materials handling, supply chain and warehousing industries. Running alongside the exhibition was a very popular two day warehousing and materials handling conference which was held in collaboration with SCLG (Supply Chain and Logistics Group). The conference, which was well met by attending delegates, featured over 20 high profile speakers debating on a number of topics relating to the sector.

The next edition of Materials Handling Middle East will be held in September 2015 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre in Dubai, UAE. For further information, please visit the fair website www.materialshandlingme.com
