After more than 3,000km of arduous racing through France, Andorra and Spain, UAE Team Emirates wrapped-up their first Vuelta a España on Sunday, marking the culmination of a successful debut for the new team at the three historic Grand Tours. The third and final of the three most prestigious races on the UCI WorldTour, the 2017 Vuelta provided 21 challenging stages and saw UAE Team Emirates achieve a stage victory, several top five and top ten finishes, and a 12th place General Classification (GC) finish for South African rider Louis Meintjes.
The Vuelta a España was the final showdown of the season and is the youngest of the three Grand Tours starting in 1935, the Giro d’Italia began in 1909 whilst the Tour de France was established in 1903.

Over 400 cyclists took on the 32.5km challenge at Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum City - District One Cycling and Running Track, the official venue partner for this event as they prepare for the big 92km event taking place on Friday 15th December at the Dubai Autodrome.
Coming in first place for the men was Almir Mujic with a time of 48:18, he was closely followed by Matthew Anthony, just 4 seconds behind with 48:22, and in third place was Cedric Domont with a time of 48:24.

Dubai, UAE, September 9, 2017: A dramatic last few hundred meters on stage 19 of the Vuelta a España saw UAE Team Emirates’ Portuguese rider Rui Costa cross the finishing line in fourth place in a restricted sprint. Rui Costa and his teammate Mohoric, himself already a stage winner at this year's race, produced an attacking display of undeniable class as they formed part of the long breakaway for the day consisting of 26 riders.

The South African placed 38th in today’s Individual Time Trial (ITT), with the stage victory going to Chris Froome (Team Sky). Dubai, UAE, September 4, 2017: Eight riders from UAE Team Emirates were in action over the past two days, taking part in two consecutive back-to-back one day races.
The team started with The Brussels Classic (formerly Paris-Brussels) on Saturday 2 September, where Slovenian rider Marko Kump came in second place following a sprint finish, making it onto the podium that saw Arnaud Démare (FDJ) win the race and André Greipel (Lotto-Soudal) come in third.
The team then travelled to France for the Grand Prix de Fourmies (La Voix Du Nord) on Sunday 3 September, where Italian Simone Consonni finished fifth. The race was won by Nacer Bouhanni (Cofidis Solutions Crédits) following a bunch sprint. The result was Consonni’s fourth top five finish of 2017.

Children from Hamad Center for Special Needs were asked to create stories around Eid and its meaning, which are now being displayed at the Park.
