Over 60 Kgs of Narcotics & Thousands of Tablets in 9 Foiled Smuggling Attempts
Sharjah, May 29, 2023: Dealing a significant blow to illicit drug trafficking, inspectors from the Khalid Port Customs Center of the Sharjah Ports Customs and Free Zones Authority (SPCFZA) have successfully thwarted a series of nine smuggling attempts, seizing an astounding 60.216 kilograms of narcotics and 14,378 narcotic tablets during the first third of 2023.
Equipped with the latest international screening devices, the inspection officers identified and seized the illegal substances immediately upon their arrival. The narcotics were found concealed in various ways, including inside refrigerated containers, showcasing the smugglers' increasing inventiveness in their attempts to introduce these contrabands into the country.

Dubai, UAE, 17 April 2023: The UAE Food Bank, in cooperation with Dubai Municipality, organized a campaign to distribute 1,000 Harees meals to deserving workers in Al Quoz Park, as part of the “Your Harees On Us” initiative launched by the bank at the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan. Abu Dhabi, 12 April 2023: The Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD) has rescued and rehabilitated a young male dugong calf, which was found abandoned. The dugong was discovered by Agency rangers at the Marawah Marine Biosphere Reserve. Alone, without its mother and far away from any herd, the dugong was found following a few days of strong winds, which may have contributed to the dugong’s separation from his mother and the group. The dugong was named ‘Malqout’ – an Arabic word that means ‘saved’ and ‘whose owner is not known’ – perfectly expressing the young animal’s condition.
