Mulberry Spring-Summer 2016
THE COLLECT ION
Spring Summer 2016 delivers a collection driven by the effortless style of an English summertime.
Contrast is key: we are nostalgic yet contemporary, the tomboy meeting sensual femininity. Graphic prints adorn soft and cool silhouettes, all in the confident but characteristically relaxed manner that defines the Mulberry brand.
Spring Summer 2016 is a breath of fresh air as we look forward to a new era.
INSPI RATION
The relaxed elegance of summertime England in the 1920s. Seaside air. The wind as it catches a sail.
Faded striped boathouses and pre-war beach style. The timeless spirit of nautical.
COATS & TAI LORING
Coats and tailoring are designed with an unpretentious, natural elegance.
Summer trousers are lightweight and loose-fit, paired with wrap coats in classic wool cashmere. Iconic seaside stripes, traditional domain of deckchairs and Victorian beach huts, are presented as both the graphic ‘Broken Stripe’ jacquard on coats with flared sleeves, and as simple nautical stripes on shirts
with scarf collars.
DRESSES & SKIRTS
Inspired by the sails of a boat, silk dresses and skirts are cut with asymmetrical panelled hems that allow the fabric to move fluidly. The new Art-Deco-inspired ‘Salcombe’ print, and the subtle bird motif of the ‘Flying Trio’ print are used on Silk summer dresses, some with subtle flashes of bold colour, others nonchalantly tied at the waist with soft silk belts.
KNITWEAR
Summertime tennis is referenced with graphic stripes in light wool/silk pieces, slightly oversized and layered over skirts or capacious trousers in bold Fiery Spritz or classic Navy or Grey marl. The classic Aran Jumper is reworked in wool/cashmere in Cream or Midnight Blue, with seasonal large buttons
designed to evoke the precious stones and amber found on the seashore.
SCARVES
Silk squares and voluminous silk scarves show off the seasonal prints, reinterpreted with a playful approach to the collection’s nautical references. Designed to envelope and drape, they are tied to the handles of our favourite bags with breezy insouciance. In particular, note the Shadow Play scarf and Geometric Flag scarves, both graphic, cool additions to the range.
SHOES
A streamlined flat loafer takes a traditional men’s shoe with its slip-on practicality and adds grosgrain piping for effortless style. It is this season’s key silhouette, styled with slouchy, relaxed trousers and voluminous silk dresses for a casual summer look. We also updated the classic summer sandal and
closed-toe pump with a nautical twist: the solid polished wooden heel was inspired by traditional boat decking and is combined with either Vachetta leather or a soft, feminine Nappa, to highlight a pleasing contrast between the two materials.
THE KI TE COLLECT ION
Spring Summer 2016 introduces the Kite Tote. This innovative multi-functional new style combines both simplicity and practicality with double-function pivoted handles, allowing you to carry it in several different ways. Carry by hand with two short handles, or use the longer straps on the shoulder.
Essentials can be kept in the detachable pouch hidden inside. Geometric yet fluid, modern yet timeless, the Kite Tote sits effortlessly alongside the iconic Bayswater and Piccadilly styles. The range also includes the Small Kite, and a Clutch with a simple construction and contemporary finish.
The Kite collection comes in sumptuous Deep Embossed Croc Print leather in Oxblood, Black and Camel, as well as smooth Calf leather in Light Khaki, Midnight and Nude.
CARRY OVER UPDATES
Freshness is added to the colour palette for the Women’s collection, with Fiery Spritz, Aqua Green and Neon Blue standing out against classic Black, Oxblood and Taupe across signature families including the Bayswater, the Lily, and the Cara Delevingne Bags. The Freya gets a new addition with the Freya Satchel, a neat and portable style with an adjustable cross-body strap, finished with Freya’s signature square plaque.
MEN & TRAVEL
In the Men’s Collection, the new Marty Backpack combines casual styling, easy drawstring and snaphook details for a modern, understated aesthetic that blends seamlessly into the men’s range. The Marty is available in full calfskin leather for a truly timeless option, as well as a lightweight version in a combination of calfskin and nylon.
Smart Embossed Croc Print leather is added to the slim-line Farringdon and Tech Pouch styles, and the iconic Dazzle Camo, introduced for the previous season, is updated in traditional Army Green to complement new Army Green leather.
For travel, the iconic Piccadilly, carried by both men and women, is the hero of the travel collection with its postman’s lock signature. Its instantly recognisable shape and beautiful natural leather in Oxblood features in the Spring Summer 2016 lookbook; the tomboy in our collection of contrasts.
