About PARFUMS de MARLY
From an age before marketing, globalization and mass production, PARFUMS de MARLY revives the opulent splendor of the eighteenth century golden age of perfumes: ‘La Cour Parfumée’ (the perfumed court) of France’s King Louis XV.
In the eighteenth century France was the internationally renowned flagship of fragrance, and Louis XV’s court was legendary for its scent extravagances. Every day the king requested a different scent for his apartments; streams of aromatic fragrances sprang from the royal fountains. This era saw the greatest fragrances of all time created by the king’s dedicated perfumer, Jean Fargeon.
In 1743 Louis XV brought together his two consuming passions, thoroughbreds and perfumes, commissioning Guillaume Coustou to sculpt the famous ‘Chevaux de Marly’ (The Marly horses), to decorate the perfumed grand fountain of the Château de Marly (Marly Castle). This magnificent work of art earned a place on the Champs Elysees Avenue in the heart of Paris in 1795, where it is still admired today.
Capturing the essence of Château de Marly’s lavish extravagance, PARFUMS de MARLY is a testimony to French quality praised around the world. With its variety of exceptional, equine-inspired fragrances crafted from the highest quality materials, lovers of beautiful scents and true luxury enthusiasts will be delighted by PARFUMS de MARLY.
Perfume connoisseurs can discover for themselves this exceptional selection of fragrances—including the new scent Athalia, at PARFUMS de MARLY’snew Manhattan store, opening March 2016.
