Brighton College set to defend their title in the STEM based competition on Saturday 16th April against 34 teams

Dubai, UAE - April 13, 2016: On Saturday 16th April, 35 primary school teams from across the UAE will compete in the ‘Formula Ethara’ National Finals at Yas Events Centre’s ‘Centre of Excellence’.

The competition, which is now in its second year gets classrooms racing, using the excitement of a scale model paper race car to deliver STEM and 21stCentury learning outcomes.

The 35 competing teams made up of either all girls, all boys or mixed gender teams from Grade 6 and below will put their engineering, technology and business skills to the test and will be assessed on all aspects of making, racing and promoting their own miniature paper race team car.  

Once again the competition will be divided into two streams ‘Outright’ (those with previous experience of Formula Ethara finals) and ‘Rookie’ (those with new to the competition) with 14 awards on offer, which will include National Champion, among others.
 
Last year’s winners, Team Turbo, from Brighton Collage, Al Ain, dominated the inaugural competition by winning both National Championship titles on offer.
 
Ahead of this weekend’s Formula Ethara’ National Finals Al Tareq Al Ameri, CEO of Yas Marina Circuit said: “We are very excited to host the ‘Formula Ethara’ National Finals here at Yas Marina Circuit for the second year. Last year we witnessed a very high level of creativity, intelligence and lots of hard work from all of the teams involved and I am looking forward to see the entries this year.”
