Lactalis Group recalls all infant and nutritional formula produced and packed in Craon factory
Laval, December the 21st, 2017: As a precautionary measure, Lactalis Group has decided, in agreement with French Authorities, a further product recall, which includes all infant and nutritional products manufactured and packed in Craon factory since 2017/02/15. All other products manufactured in our other factories are safe and are out of the scope of recall.
We wish to extend our sincerest apologies to the affected families. We are well aware of the seriousness of the situation and fully understand the anxiety and inconvenience that have been caused.
Food safety for all our consumers and all our products is our highest priority, which is why we are taking such rapid and drastic measures in order to deal with this situation.
Following the alert transmitted by French authorities on December 1st , 2017 concerning a risk of salmonella contamination of infant formula, Lactalis Group proceeded on December 2nd , 2017 to a first withdrawal / recall of products.
Further investigations led to a second withdrawal / recall of all products manufactured since February 15th, 2017 from one of the drying towers of the plant.
Despite the conformity of all our analyzes carried out on the finished products in between January 1st, 2017 and December 1st, 2017, we decided to stop Craon factory for a drastic and complete audit on December 8th, 2017.
Since the beginning of this crisis, a reinforced analysis program has been implemented with independent external laboratories.
Based on the results of the reinforced analysis program, we now know that dispersed contamination has settled in our Craon factory following work carried out during the first half of 2017.
In the face of this fact, further precautionary measures have proved to be necessary.
Therefore, we have taken the decision to extend the recall by including all infant and nutritional formula produced and packed in Craon factory since February 15th , 2017. We commit to deliver information regarding the progress of the audit and to share the findings over the coming weeks.
A total of 720 batches will be withdrawn/recall from both French and International markets.
Consumption of the products listed in the appendices must be stopped and replaced by alternative products.
Once again, we would like to express our most sincere apologize to parents and families, and reassure them that everything is being and will be done to solve the situation.
