St. George's University School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies, Appoints New Director of Transnational Education
SGU School of Medicine appoints Jade Pearson as Director of Transnational Education to empower aspiring medical students with international education
Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 7 April 2022: St. George’s University (SGU), Grenada, has appointed Jade Pearson as the Director of Transnational Education (TNE). TNE encompasses a broad spectrum of collaborations between universities, ranging from exchange programs for staff and students, to study abroad opportunities, through to pathways or dual degrees.
To expand SGU’s efforts of recruiting international students and enhance its global presence as a school of medicine, Jade Pearson’s higher education experience is a perfect match to the School of Medicine’s goals to further expand their collaboration efforts with universities around the world.
“Internationalization is on every university's agenda right now”, said Jade Pearson. “This is largely because the global workforce requires young talent to have global experience. I've always been passionate about helping students study abroad and gain international experience, and I’d like to combine that passion for nurturing young talent and their education with medical degree pathways.”
With a changing workforce landscape around the world, Jade Pearson’s views on international experience falls in line with SGU’s international partnerships, affiliations and pathways throughout the UK, US and India, available for aspiring medical students.
SGU’s use of TNE is not limited to student mobility, but also extends to faculty exchange and program development. Jade Pearson’s role oversees TNE strategies to be implemented for students and staff in the Middle East, UK and India.
“I've been following SGU and all the amazing advances they've made internationaly over the last five years. When the opportunity to work with them came up, I was extremely excited to take on the role. It is the right time to empower aspiring physicians achieve their dreams as I personally believe that the pandemic has brought to light how there is a huge global shortage of doctors,” commented Jade Pearson.
Jade, who has more than 12 years of educational experience, has developed a passion for supporting the younger generation through education. She has joined SGU as the Director of Transnational Education to further pioneer supporting medical students when facing the pressures of seeking higher education and chasing their dreams, through TNE strategies. “I take such great pleasure in assisting where I can and helping people achieve the best in their education,” said Jade.
Understanding the increased demand for medical students, with the World Health Organization (WHO) estimating a shortage of 4.3 million physicians, nurses, and other health workers worldwide, Jade has joined SGU to support their goals on meeting these demands, through implementing effective TNE strategies. “Medicine is something that's really sought after. When you come into TNE and you're providing medical pathways, that's an incredibly powerful thing”, says Jade.
