Dubai Sports Council to Launch the 5th Labor Sports Tournament in Collaboration with the Permanent Committee of Labor Affairs & Dubai Police

Dubai Sports Council (DSC) has announced that the 5th Labor Sports Tournament will be launched in collaboration with the Permanent Committee of Labor Affairs in Dubai & Dubai Police, under title “Their Happiness is Our Goal”.


The Tournament will take place from 3rd Sept. 2023 to 13th March 2024 at various 10 locations in Dubai, and it will comprise 11 sports competitions.
 
The Tournament’s details were declared in a press conference, and addressed by H.E. Saeed Hareb, the Secretary General of DSC / H.E.  Brigadier Ali Al-Khalfan Al-Mansouri, Director of General Dept. of the Community Happiness in Dubai Police / Mr. Abdulla Shukri, the Secretary General of the Permanent Committee of Labor Affairs in Dubai.
 
The conference was held in the presence of H.E. Naser Aman Al-Rahma, the Assistant Secretary General of DSC, and representatives of the supporting companies; Nakheel Co., DUTCO, Juma Al-Majid, Dubai Holding & Adam Vital Hospital.    
 
H.E. Saeed Hareb welcomed the conference attendees from Dubai Police, Permanent Committee of Labor Affairs in Dubai & supporting companies, and stated: “We are pleased to continue our joint efforts to organize this eminent annual social sports event, which confirms that UAE gives special consideration to laborers of different specializations, since laborers are essential partner in the continuous development process in the State and they are part of our society. We appreciate the great efforts they are exerting to serve this homeland and all individuals in society. They will enjoy enthusiastic atmospheres through these competitions, taking place within 6 months. Participants in this edition will compete in 11 sports competitions to be held at 11 various locations. We are also pleased to announce that the current edition of the Tournament will witness the participation of women for the first time, in volleyball & badminton competitions”.
 
He added: “We organize this Tournament to bring joy to laborers and to enable them spend nice times in useful activities, and therefore they will increase productivity. Our country will accordingly attain sustainability & promising development. The remarkable participation in these competitions confirms that sport has become an essential part in the life of society members in general & laborers category in particular. We thank our partners & supporters in the public & private sectors toward their keenness & collaboration to organize this event. Special thanks are extended to the Permanent Committee of Labor Affairs in Dubai and Dubai Police. We also thank the Tournament’s hosts. We are sure that the competitions will be remarkably organized and will contribute to enhance convergence and cooperation among participating workers of multi-nationalities and different specializations”.    
 
H.E. Brigadier Ali Al-Mansouri remarked: “We thank DSC for organizing this distinctive Tournament. We also thank the supporting & sponsoring entities in both public & private sectors toward their hard efforts to make this event a success. Community happiness is one of the main factors in Dubai Police strategy. We are aware of the importance of sports initiatives targeting the various classes in society. We are also aware that laborers are main partners in our development & progress. The Labor Sports Tournament provides laborers with opportunities to exercise their favorite sports and to participate in fair competitions. The increase in the number of participants every year confirms that the Tournament presents a message of tolerance and plays eminent roles to make the Emirate of Dubai the happiest and safest city in the world”.   
 
Mr. Abdulla Al-Shukri addressed attendees in Arabic & Urdu languages, extending thanks to DSC toward its fruitful initiatives & events not only for laborers but for all classes in Dubai too. He also thanked laborers for their eminent role to make the Tournament a success. 
 
He referred: “Our wise leadership is keen to exercise sport and to attend all sports events. Respective bodies in Dubai encourage all classes in society to exercise sport and therefore all sports events, taking place in the Emirate, are of special value and contributing to the community development”.    
 
Ms. Fawziya Fraidoon, Manager of Community Events in DSC, made a detailed presentation on the most eminent figures & indicators of the Tournament since its launch in 2010. She explained: “Participants in the 5th edition of the Tournament will compete in 11 sports competitions; these are: basketball, football, running, arm wrestling, badminton, volleyball, swimming, tug of war, yoga, cricket & kabaddi. The Tournament will take place at ten different locations; these are: Jebel Ali, Al-Quoz, Al-Jeddaf, DP World, DUTCO, Dulsco, ENOC Residential Complex, Qusais, Muhaisna 4 and Al-Ghurair Residential Complex.
 
One of participating laborers, who was present in the conference, affirmed that all words of thanks & praise will not fulfill Dubai's right. Dubai opens its doors for everybody and provides opportunities for each one to show skills & creativities. He mentioned: “I visited many countries, but I did not find any place better than UAE & Dubai in particular. The gentle treatment of all governmental entities & the Emirati people is the best all over the world. Whenever I visit my homeland, the nostalgia returns me back to Dubai and wish if I had spent all my life in Dubai”.
