UNASCO the main sponsor and organizer of the gala dinner collaborated with Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport to honor and encourage businesswomen across the region and build close ties between UAE females and the international delegates visiting Dubai.
Dubai, (22.09.2015) UAE: UNASCO a 100% national company inaugurated 35 years ago Under the a special Decree from Late H.H. Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum father of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Ruler, UNASCO (Union National Air, Land and sea Shipping Co. LLC) sponsored a prestigious gala dinner to honor and celebrate the achievement of inspiring motivating and leading women who have excelled in their respective fields and set an example to a whole generation of women in the UAE and the Middle East. The night of glitz and glamour was held at Main Ballroom, Burj Al Arab Hotel, Dubai, Al Falak Ballroom in the presence of business professionals, First Ladies, foreign delegates and dignitaries from across the MENA region, Europe and the Far East.
The program commenced with a welcome speech by UNASCO CEO-MS Nadia Abdul Aziz and followed by a speech by the Chartered Institute of Logistic and Transport Global President (CILT) Mr Paul Brooks. He commented on how women in logistics, transport, aviation and other sectors are part of CILT initiatives globally. Then the former only female President of CILT Dr. Dorothy Chan- from Hong Kong, who is also a great supporter of WILAT (Women In Logistics and Transport) who made WILAT actually take off by her support during her presidency period. Dr Dorothy Chan was awarded, followed by Princess of Nigeria Vicky Haastrup and the first female Minister of Transport and Aviation of Nigeria, Dr. Kema Chikwe. The night of style and glamour, business and networking concluded with dinner, accompanied by live entertainment, henna painting for guests and raffle draw with strong growth in business networks.
The Award categories were “Women Supporting the Cause of Women Empowerment”, Women’ Contribution to CSR and Charity” and “Women High Achievers and Pioneers in the UAE and Middle East. The Honorary Gala Dinner was organized in the sideline of the Chartered Institute of Logistic and Transport (CILT)’s Global Annual Conference. This was not only a valuable venue for networking and business opportunities; but also a platform for creating and implementing important strategic decisions in the Emirate and also across the UAE. This is an annual conference which was previously held in the UK, Australia, Colombo, Malaysia, and now held in Dubai and next year it will be held in Canada and China. CILT has a CSR division called ‘Aspire’ which helps and sponsors less privileged people to get a complete education in Supply chain and logistics.
CILT a very important organization was formed in 1919, it received a Royal decree from the King of England in 1926 and currently Her Majesty the Queen of England is the honorary patron. As for the UAE CILT Chapter, which women in logistics and transport (WILAT-Middle East) is under, CILT UAE honorary patron is H.H. Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum.
