The next World Energy Congress will take place in Abu Dhabi, following a successful international bid that Abu Dhabi won at the Executive Assembly of the World Energy Council in 2014. “The planning and execution of a global event of this magnitude requires sophisticated organizational and execution skills, as well as an in-depth understanding of the energy sector, said His Excellency Dr Matar Al Neyadi, Chair of the Organizing Committee. “We conducted a thorough process to learn the key lessons of preceding Congresses and identified a need to bring an experienced PMO to support the complex work to coordinate thousands of energy stakeholders from around the world, as well as a multifaceted group of event-related organizations. Appointing the PMO three years in advance will ensure the efficient and viable delivery of the best World Energy Congress in the history of the World Energy Council,” said His Excellency Dr Matar Al Neyadi, Chair of the Organizing Committee.

During the event, His Excellency UAE Minister of Energy and Chair of the UAE National Committee to the World Energy Council also described the key entities responsible for delivering the 2019 World Energy Congress in Abu Dhabi, composed of the Steering Committee heated by HE the Minister to overseen the preparation for organizing the 2019 Congress  and the Organizing Committee chair by HE the Undersecretary to work with E3 and Secretariat of the WEC to organize Abu Dhabi Congress .

Abu Dhabi will join the exclusive list of cities that have hosted the World Energy Congress since 1926, where only a selected list of 23 cities so far have hosted this prestigious and truly global event.

The 2019 Abu Dhabi World Energy Congress will be the first Congress to take place in a MENA country. Also, the UAE will be the first OPEC country to host this crucial event for the energy sector. This confluence of unique factors will support the objective of the Organizing Committee to deliver a unique platform for energy stakeholders covering all perspectives of the energy industry, to convene in Abu Dhabi in 2019 to strategically address the issues impacting the energy sector and continue to lead the global energy debate.

The 2019 World Energy Congress will join other world-leading energy events hosted in the UAE, such as ADIPEC, WEFS or WETEX, to make 2019 a genuinely critical year for the energy sector in the UAE and position the nation as an epicenter for the future of energy.
