Dubai Sports Council's Football Academies Championship kicks off with stellar line up of private academies and national club teams
24th October 2018, Dubai, UAE -    The first week of the Dubai Sports Council Football Academies Championship saw matches played across the emirate, at Dubai Sports City, Al Wasl Club and Shabab al Ahli Club.

While Al Wasl Club, Spanish Soccer Schools and Barca Academy all put in outstanding performances, the top matches of the week were played between du LaLiga HPC and Dubai City FC in the U18 category.

In the U18 squads LaLiga HPC dominated a full-strength Dubai City FC squad with play after play that found their way through the defences of their opponents. The first goal came from set piece a little ahead of the half way line, Barbood Mazloumian crossed the ball in and it and found Faris Nael on the second post who tapped the first goal neatly into the bottom corner in the 13th minute. The second goal came when Sami Samera played a through ball of perfection to Lotfi who calmly finished the goal by chipping it over the keeper in the 27th minute, ending the second half with a comfortable two goal lead.

The second half opened up with Mazloumian’s rocketing a screaming goal from outside of the penalty box that found the top hand corner of the goal in the 9th minute. City FC fired back with a nicely played goal coming in from their left winger Carl Accad, who with a powerful shot that found the back of the net, it was a case of too little too late however as the match finished 3-1 to the du LaLiga HPC.

The U16 match-up of the week featured one of DSCAC’s new academies, Foxes Sport Academy against local side, Shabab Al-Ahli Dubai Club at Dubai Sports City. The match ended with a tight finish, local side Shabab Al-Ahli Dubai coming out on top when number 9 Omar Mohamad Qassim Sebaie scored in the 70th minute to finish the game 3-4 for Shabab Al-Ahli Dubai.

The amount of quality that was witnessed at all facilities during the inaugural day of the 3rd edition for DSCAC was tremendous. Academies such as Spanish Soccer Schools, Barca Academy Dubai, Talented FA, Al Wasl Club, Alliance, AS Roma and many more set the stage for an exciting season of football here in the UAE.

The Dubai Sports Council Football Academies Championship, which is the largest of its kind, and has expanded this year to include 100 teams and 2,300 players participating. The Championship will be played on the grounds of Al Wasl Club, Shabab Al Ahli and Dubai Sports City, from October 20, 2018 to April 27, 2019.

Played to world class standards the league provides private academies and national team academies an opportunity to play quality football throughout the season.
