Events will be held at Al Qattara Arts Centre and Qasr Al Muwaiji
Abu Dhabi, 8 September 2019: As part of Al Ain Cultural Programme, the Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) is organising a series of cultural events and workshops at the Al Qattara Arts Centre and Qasr Al Muwaiji throughout the month of September.
Al Qattara Arts Centre will host several events, including 'The Microphone Programme', offering a variety of exciting topics and subjects of interest to the community. On Thursday, 12 September, a session will be held under title “Your Inner Giant”, in which Life Skills Coach Shaima Al Jaberi will speak about the importance of having a purpose in life and unleashing one’s inner giant to progress in life.
This session will be moderated by the media personality Ibrahim Ustadi.
Saturday, 14 September, the centre will host the “Family Day” event, offering family-friendly interactive workshops, including pottery, playing on the Oud instrument, and decoupage. Moreover, the “Journey of an Object” programme, will explore the significance of museums and their position at the forefront of the country’s cultural heritage. The programme will display a clay jug, on loan from Al Ain Museum, from the settlement of Bidaa Bint Saud, dating back to the Iron Age, and specifically to the first millennium BCE. The loan period extends from 1 September to 31 October.
Moreover, Qasr Al Muwaiji will host a series of cultural workshops during September, including the 'Royal Bisht' workshop on 17 September, to introduce participants to the “Bisht”, the prestigious garment traditionally associated with the Gulf, along with the art of making the “Bisht”. In addition, several Royal Bishts that belonged to Al Nahyan family will be on display at Qasr Al Muwaiji.
“Characters from the 20th Century” event will take place on 28 September, allowing visitors the opportunity to interact with silent art presentations that emulate lifestyles in the early twentieth century. 'A Lens On History' programme on 14 September will include several photography workshops with several award-winning experts. The programme aims to commemorate the great role of photography in preserving the UAE's history.
All workshops are free of charge and open to the public.
