DGW takes part in 'Your City Needs You' campaign in support to the UAE community

Participation reflects DGW's commitment to enhancing volunteerism as part of one's humanitarian and patriotic duty

UAE, 9 May 2020 - The Dubai Government Workshop (DGW) confirmed the participation of a number of its employees in the ongoing 'Your City Needs You' volunteering campaign, an initiative launched by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, through the 'Day for Dubai' app. The campaign aims to give people in Dubai the opportunity to participate in a variety of volunteering activities, especially across their areas of knowledge and expertise.

DGW's participation in the campaign reflects its commitment towards humanitarian and national responsibilities while also demonstrating its belief in the importance of promoting volunteerism across the UAE community.

H.E. Fahad Ahmed Al-Raeesi CEO of DGW, said, 'The DGW has placed high importance on its social and humanitarian contributions, aimed at fostering unity and solidarity between different members of society. We are truly honored to take part in the 'Your City Needs You' campaign, which was  launched by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council in response to the directives issued by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to increase awareness on the importance of volunteering as part of our patriotic and humanitarian responsibilities. Our participation in the campaign allows us promote volunteerism among our employees and be a part of the ongoing efforts to serve society, especially now that the world is facing the challenges brought about by the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19).’

H.E. revealed that the DGW has always remained proactive in responding to voluntary initiatives that serve the country and society, which is based on its humanitarian duty and reputation as a leading government institution. He emphasized the importance of working closely with frontlines who are facing COVID-19 and protecting the emirate and all of its citizens and residents.

DGW employees will be participating in the campaign through its support for social services and providing other services as needed. This will give them a strategic opportunity to gain the necessary volunteer experience and contribute to helping the society in its move to curb the spread of COVID-19.

The 'Your City Needs You' volunteering campaign is being organized in collaboration with the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) and the Watani Al Emarat Foundation. The initiative looks towards combating the spread of COVID-19 through the active participation of UAE citizens and residents via volunteer work such as helping healthcare workers through the 'Day for Dubai' app. The initiative is expected to leave a significant impact on the efforts to eliminate the virus and limit its spread.
