Dubai, United Arab Emirates, April 19, 2022: The Department of Radiology at Rashid Hospital obtained an international accreditation from the American College of Radiology making Rashid Hospital the first government hospital to obtain this accreditation at an international level and in second place after Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi.
The American College of Radiology follows a set of strict procedures and standards before granting such an accreditation.
The accreditation reflects the rapid development of the Department of Radiology, the level of equipment and technologies it possesses, as well as safety and security factors, in addition to highly skilled radiologists and technicians, who are in charge of the department.
Dr. Usama Al Bastaki , Consultant and Director of the Radiology Department at the Dubai Health Authority, and head of the Radiology Department at Rashid Hospital, said that in order to obtain this accreditation, the department went through several stages of audit, evaluation and verification.
He explained that in addition to processes, standards, measurements and reviews, detailed information including all educational qualifications for radiologists including a minimum of scientific qualifications and practical experience to work in various branches of medical imaging for each radiology was provided.
This was another major requirement. After the official registration, the department received the required ACR package for each specialty according to the listed devices and examinations (details are mentioned in the attached accreditation certificates).
Dr. Al- Bastaki said each speciality the department offers was accredited and that he considers it an important achievement for the Dubai Health Authority and Rashid Hospital, in addition to being an incentive for the Radiology Department, to continue pursuing development and working towards enhanced excellence with an aim to provide the highest quality of patient-centered care.
