Department of Civil Aviation and Sharjah Airport Authority celebrate 51st UAE Flag Day

Sharjah, November 3, 2022: Sharjah Airport Department of Civil Aviation and Sharjah Airport Authority celebrated the 51st UAE Flag Day on November 3, 2022, in the presence of H.E Sheikh Faisal Bin Saoud Al Qassimi, Director of Sharjah Airport Authority, and H.E. Sheikh Sultan Bin Abdullah Al Thani, Director of the Department of Civil Aviation, along with the employees of both the entities and representatives from various government and private sector organisations operating at the airport.

The celebration of UAE Flag Day serves as a symbol of loyalty to the nation and provides an opportunity for the people to reiterate their commitment to the country and its higher values. It also acts as a symbol of nationalism to help the UAE achieve its goal of development and prosperity, which is reliant on the harmony of its citizens, the robustness of its institutions, and the vision of its wise leadership that steers the nation toward a promising future.

The celebrations began with the raising of the UAE flag in front of the Department of Civil Aviation and Sharjah Airport Authority building. Later, the employees and representatives saluted the flag and sang the national anthem as a gesture of patriotism, followed by the distribution of national flags and souvenirs.

H.E Sheikh Khalid bin Isam Al Qassimi, Chairman of Department of Civil Aviation-Sharjah, said: “We feel proud and honored to celebrate this occasion, where all entities and departments are gathered to raise the flag at the same time, as an expression of unity and sincerity to the country that carries this flag and a symbol of the loyalty of all citizens and residents to our great leaders.”

He added: “This occasion emphasizes our love for the UAE, and reminds us of our great achievements over the past years, and motivates us to work hard to achieve a comprehensive renaissance, progress and prosperity for our beloved country under our wise leadership”.

H.E. Ali Salim Al Midfa, Chairman of the Sharjah International Airport Authority, said: “The UAE Flag Day is a significant national occasion that celebrates the country's history of loyalty, unity, and solidarity among its aspirational and sincere citizens as well as the wise leadership that took on the challenge of improving the UAE's reputation locally, regionally, and internationally. The UAE is working towards becoming a beacon of tolerance and peace, a meeting ground for different cultures, and achieving the pinnacles of success in the fields of science, economy, and culture. None of this would have happened if it wasn’t for the perseverance of the people of the UAE and their continuous strive towards the highest levels of glory.”

“This is a very special day for us, as it reflects the solidarity in the UAE and expresses the main pillars of the union, independence, peace, tolerance, honour, and dignity. We have the right to be proud of our accomplishments and everlasting values and we should reaffirm our commitment to the country and work towards enhancing its competitiveness and solidify its position as a global destination in various fields,” Al Midfa added.

His Excellency Sheikh Faisal bin Saud Al Qasimi, Director of Sharjah Airport Authority, concluded: 'Flag Day is a significant occasion to recognize a long journey of accomplishments and significant moments in the history of our emirates under the banner of the Union. It provides an ideal opportunity to express our deepest sense of allegiance and steadfast commitment to our homeland, as well as our wise leadership, and reflects the value of belonging. On this day, we reaffirm our dedication to continuing to assist the UAE in its ambitious development efforts and improve its position as a global leader.”

HE Sheikh Sultan bin Abdullah Al Thani, Director of Department of Civil Aviation-Sharjah, said: “On this national occasion, on which all the people of UAE gather around the UAE flag to celebrate the values of pride, glory, patriotism, and we renew our pledge to the wise leadership that the UAE flag will always remain high”.
