FidelisWorld today announced the successful first close of the Mauritius-based FW Sports Investment Fund L.P. (FSIF) with US$100M in total capital commitments, all from institutional investors. The FSIF aims to have US$200M at its final close.
FSIF, a niche, first of its kind private equity fund in the sports and sports ancillary space, will target investments of between US$5-20M in South and Southeast Asia and the Middle East. The primary aim will be to provide growth capital to established businesses with promising prospects on a global platform. With a unique strategy and strong deal pipeline, FSIF will create an ecosystem designed for optimal value creation.
Group Chairman and CEO, Anand S. Krishnan, commented: “The sports and sports ancillary business is primed for growth in the target region. As the first PE Fund in this sector, the FSIF will have immense opportunities to invest in and grow this business segment. The lack of targeted, organized investment in this space has created an opportunity for first mover advantage and virgin returns.”
The FSIF is managed by a Mauritius-based, FidelisWorld-affiliated asset manager and both are regulated by the Financial Services Commission of Mauritius.
FidelisWorld is a sports, media, and entertainment group with offices in Mauritius, the UAE, and India.
