Kazan Summit 2013 will initiate a new era of economic and business ties between Russia and countries in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), said Mr. Hamdan Mohamed Al Murshidi, President and Chairman of Board, Arab Business Club, Dubai.
Mr. Al Murshidi was speaking with the media, before leaving for Kazan, Russia, to participate in the 5th International Economic Summit of Russia and OIC countries, which is scheduled to held on 2nd – 3rd of October, 2013.
Kazan Summit 2013 is providing a matchless environment where company executives, institutional & private investors, and high-profile government officials of the Russian Federation and OIC countries will gather to discuss the key economic issues of the day, Mr. Al Murshidi further said.
We are confident enough that this year's summit would score a record business and economic understandings and agreements between the both regions. This Summit will also be a step forward for designing a roadmap to Islamic Finance opportunities in Russia, he went forward.
Mr. Al Murshidi, during his visit will also attend the Kazan Smart City Ground Breaking Ceremony, as well as invited in a gala dinner on behalf of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan.
It is worth mentioning here that at the present Kazan Summit is the largest and single annual platform for economic cooperation between the Russian Federation and developed Muslim countries.
The event is jointly organized by the Tatarstan Investment Development Agency and the Islamic Business and Finance Development Foundation with the support of the Council of Federation of the Russian Federation and under the patronage of the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan.
Kazan Summit is the premier international economic summit of the Russian Federation and OIC countries; as it was founded in 2009 and has been held under the patronage of the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan since 2010.
Beginning in 2012, Kazan Summit is also maintained with the financial backing of the Council of the Federation of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation
Briefing about the summit this year, Mr. Al Murshidi said, “The 5th International Economic Summit will include: The Strategic and Investment Forum, the conference on Islamic Economics and Finance, a conference of representatives of the parliaments of the OIC, round tables on different issues, business meetings, business breakfast for heads of delegations, signing of agreements, as scheduled.”

In 2012 Kazan Summit brought together more than 1000 participants. Among them were representatives of governmental authorities and financial institutions, governors of central banks and prominent business owners, investors and high-profile analysts, experts, and scholars, from OIC member countries, Russia, the CIS, Europe, Southeast Asia and Middle East.
