The Mohammed Bin Rashid Library organised a unique cultural event celebrating 'Al-Nahma,' a traditional Emirati maritime art once performed on ships and at sea. The event saw the participation of the Poet and Cultural Advisor, Khalid Al Budoor, and Mubarak Al Otaiba, Head of the Folk Troupe for Performing Al Nahma Art. This initiative aligns with the library’s strategy to support the vision of the Year of Community, aiming to preserve and promote the UAE’s rich cultural heritage.

The event provided an in-depth explanation of Al-Nahma art, its significance in traditional marine life, and the various forms of Al-Nahma. These included Al-Yar, Al-Khatifa, and Al Yamal. Attendees were also treated to live performances by the folk band, alongside a display of authentic examples of these distinctive singing styles.

The event attracted a large turnout of enthusiasts of Emirati heritage and folk arts, with participants expressing their admiration for Al-Nahma. They also underscored the importance of such events in raising awareness of cultural heritage and connecting younger generations to their history and identity.
