Dubai Customs wins two global governance awards, reaffirming its institutional excellence
Dubai – 23 May 2025: As part of its ongoing strategy to strengthen corporate governance and drive sustainable excellence, Dubai Customs continues to reach new milestones both locally and globally. These accomplishments are fueled by the steadfast support of the department’s senior leadership, which has placed a strong focus on advancing the customs sector in alignment with Dubai’s ambitious vision and the Dubai Economic Agenda D33.
Most recently, Dubai Customs was honored with two prestigious accolades at the 2025 Global Good Governance (3G) Awards: the 3G Leadership Award in Corporate Governance and the 3G Excellence Award in Corporate Social Responsibility. These recognitions underscore the Department’s strong commitment to upholding the highest standards of governance, institutional sustainability, transparency, and operational efficiency.
The nominations underwent a comprehensive evaluation by an independent panel of experts from government and academia, ensuring that shortlisted institutions align with the five core pillars of governance: transparency, social responsibility, sustainability, impact, and innovation.
Commenting on the achievement, Ahmed Abdul Salam Kazim, Director of Strategy and Corporate Excellence Department, said the recognition would not have been possible without the guidance and support of the organization’s leadership, which has embedded transparency and governance as fundamental principles across all operations. He noted that this clear vision has enabled the department to reach advanced levels of institutional governance, reflected in its strong operational performance and global ISO certifications—aligning with Dubai’s strategic directions.
Kazim emphasized that this is not the first governance-related award Dubai Customs has received, citing a series of similar achievements over the years that have cemented its reputation as a leading government entity in adopting best global practices.
He added that, to further embed a culture of corporate governance, Dubai Customs has launched the “Corporate Governance Ambassadors” initiative, engaging employees across departments to play a pivotal role in instilling governance principles within the organization’s culture. This supports the department’s broader strategy of promoting transparency and sustainability.
Kazim reaffirmed that Dubai Customs will continue its journey of enhancing corporate governance, guided by senior leadership, to secure further success in this field and contribute to the Dubai Economic Agenda D33 by embedding a culture of governance and excellence in all customs operations.
Samira Abdul Razzaq, Manager of Quality Assurance and Corporate Governance section at Dubai Customs, who received the award on behalf of Dubai Customs, noted that the honor is a culmination of sustained efforts to enhance transparency, operational efficiency, and sustainability across all functions.
Samira Abdul Razzaq stated that Dubai Customs’ commitment to applying the highest standards of governance and sustainability has positioned the organization as a global model. She highlighted that their proactive approach to adopting and maintaining these standards has placed them among the world’s leading customs authorities.
She added that Dubai Customs is committed to boosting operational agility in response to global changes, ensuring all activities are regularly reviewed in line with governance policies. This enables the organization to adapt quickly and effectively. She stressed that sustainability has become an integral part of Dubai Customs’ strategy, with a strong focus on implementing long-term plans that deliver positive impacts on society and the environment, in alignment with Dubai’s strategic vision.
