The Asian Basketball Confederation convened its first meeting after the election of its Board for the new term 2023 – 2027. 
 
The meeting was held at Dubai Sports Council's premises in the presence of H.E. Sheikh Saud Bin Ali Al-Thani, the President of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) / H.E. Andreas Zaklis, the Secretary General of FIBA.
 
The meeting was chaired by Dr. Govinddraj Kambardi, President of the Asian Basketball Confederation, in the presence of the Chinese world star Yao Ming, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Asian Basketball Confederation / Major General Ismail Al-Garqawi, President of the UAE Basketball Association and President of the Arab Basketball Federation, besides other Board's members of the Asian Confederation.
 
The meeting discussed the Asian Basketball Confederation's plan of work & programs, to be implemented during the upcoming period to meet its sustainable development in coordination with FIBA.  
 
DSC organized a meeting to welcome the guests of FIBA & the Asian Basketball Confederation at DSC's Conference Hall, where H.E. Naser Aman Al-Rahma, Assistant Secretary General of the Council, welcomed the guests and wished them to attain their ambitious goals and to achieve full success in all their works & tasks.
 
He stated: 'DSC is associated in partnership & cooperation relations with the international & regional sports federations; top of which is the Union of the Olympic Sports Federations (ASWAF), which comprises the Association of Summer Olympic International Federation (ASOIF).  The Emirate of Dubai also hosts several international championships, forums & workshops in collaboration with the various international sports federations. Today, we are pleased to host at our headquarter the leadership of FIBA & the Asian Basketball Confederation and to confirm our entire keenness to cooperate with both entities to organize championships & events in basketball sport during the upcoming period, based on the availability of sports facilities of global level and the national organizational experiences besides the well rooted relation between DSC & the UAE Basketball Association'.
 
H.E. the Assistant Secretary General of DSC presented the Council's Trophy to the President of FIBA & the President of the Asian Basketball Confederation and to the FIBA's Secretary General & the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Asian Basketball Confederation. He accompanied the guests in a tour around DSC's premises and the Offices of 'MBR Creative Sports Award', which has honored hundreds of athletes, teams & corporations from the UAE, Arab World & the entire globe since its first version in 2009, taking into account that winners of the 12th edition of 'MBR Creative Sports Award' will be honored on 10th Jan. 2024.
 
He presented a brief on DSC's initiative to design innovative medals for each event, combining between the privacy of the event itself and the distinctive location where the event is taking place, showing the iconic architectural landmarks of Dubai.
